CVE-2023-49582

Local data disclosure via lax shared-memory permissions

Published Aug 26, 2024 · Updated Mar 13, 2025

Incorrect permissions in Apache Portable Runtime 0.9.0 through 1.7.4 allow local users to read named shared memory segments. The Unix POSIX shm_open and classic mmap implementations fail to enforce requested permissions on named segments, leaving application data readable beyond the intended account. Exposure requires a Unix build that does not use APR_USE_SHMEM_SHMGET=1 and an application that places sensitive data in named shared memory.
