CVE-2023-49559Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded directive parsing

Published Jun 12, 2024 · Updated Dec 3, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in vektah gqlparser before 2.5.14 allows remote attackers to interrupt GraphQL services via crafted queries. The parseDirectives function accepts an unbounded number of directives, increasing query-processing time and error-response size with each directive. Exploitation requires a reachable application that passes attacker-controlled GraphQL input to an affected parser, and concurrent requests can exhaust service resources.
