Service crash via JSON stringification stack overflow
Published Jan 2, 2024 · Updated Apr 17, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Cesanta mJS 2.20.0 allows remote attackers to crash the engine through crafted JSON stringification input. Executing the supplied proof-of-concept script causes mjs_op_json_stringify to exhaust the process stack, with AddressSanitizer locating the abort at mjs.c line 11362. No authentication or user interaction is required in a network-exposed embedding, and exploitation interrupts the process without reported data disclosure or code execution.
