Browser script execution via unescaped search tags
Published Dec 28, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Reflected XSS in Shaarli 0.12.2 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through a crafted tag-search URL. BookmarkListController escapes the searchtags and searchterm values only after the raw values are used to build the bookmark-list page title. Exploitation requires a user to follow the attacker-supplied URL; the injected script then runs in that user's Shaarli origin and can access session data or perform available actions.
