Router crash via oversized device-name request
Published Dec 7, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack overflow in Tenda AX3 firmware 16.03.12.11 allows remote attackers to crash the router via a crafted device-name request. The httpd set_device_name function writes the POSTed devName value into a stack buffer without enforcing its bounds. The published request includes an admin cookie, while NVD scores privileges as unnecessary; only a router denial of service is demonstrated.
