Remote code execution via oversized configuration field
Published Dec 7, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack overflow in Tenda W30E firmware 16.01.0.12(4843) allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted configuration upload. The /cgi-bin/UploadCfg handler processes an oversized fw.product.id field, allowing attacker-controlled bytes to overwrite the stack and redirect execution. The published proof of concept sends an HTTP POST with a session cookie, although NVD assesses that no privileges or user interaction are required.
