Unauthenticated code execution via localMsg stack overflow
Published Dec 7, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack overflow in Tenda W30E firmware 16.01.0.12(4843) allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted localMsg request. The /goform/localMsg handler accepts an oversized data value that exceeds the localMsg function's stack-buffer capacity. The HTTP request requires neither authentication nor user interaction, and successful exploitation can yield a shell on the router.
