Window-data disclosure and spoofing via shared temporary files
Published Dec 14, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Insecure temporary files in Budgie Extras before 1.7.1 allow local users to alter window previews or interrupt the application. Window Previews passes image filenames and predictable trigger files through a shared host directory that any local account can read or replace. An attacker must have local system access and race an existing X11 window to substitute crafted PNG or malformed files, exposing captured window data, displaying false imagery, or stopping the preview daemon.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
