Authenticated privilege escalation via client-side authorization checks
Published Sep 3, 2024 · Updated Oct 24, 2024
Improper authorization in Stilog I.S.T. Visual Planning Admin Center before 8 Build 240207 allows remote authenticated users to access admin functions. The vpadmin client alone checks the returned VPUser ID; changing it to 1 unlocks the interface, while server APIs omit corresponding permission checks. A non-administrative account is required; exploitation exposes configured service credentials and permits changes to administrative data and settings.
