CVE-2023-49226Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root command execution via traceroute input

Published Dec 25, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Command injection in Peplink Balance Two before 8.4.0 allows remote authenticated users with admin privileges to execute commands as root. The administration console's traceroute feature passes insufficiently validated input to an operating-system command, enabling command injection. Administrative access to the network-reachable console is required, and successful exploitation permits complete control of the router, its stored secrets, and handled traffic.
