CVE-2023-4918Network attack vector

Password disclosure via registration attribute leak

Published Sep 12, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024

Plaintext storage in Keycloak 22.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to read self-registered users’ passwords via user-attribute access. The org.keycloak.userprofile registration flow incorrectly persists submitted password and password-confirm values as ordinary user attributes. Any user or client with rights to read those attributes can retrieve cleartext passwords; self-registration must be enabled for exposure.
