Stored script execution via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Dec 15, 2023 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in N.O.U.S. Open Useful and Simple Event Post 5.8.6 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in viewers' browsers. Shortcode handling neither sanitizes user-supplied attributes nor escapes them when generating page output, so injected script is stored with the post. Contributor-level access and a viewer opening the injected page are required; the script executes in that viewer's browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
