Browser script execution via unescaped request path
Published Sep 12, 2023 · Updated Sep 26, 2024
Reflected XSS in Cecil before 7.47.1 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through a crafted preview-server URL. The built-in resources/server/router.php decodes the HTTP request path and places it into server output without HTML escaping. Exploitation requires a victim to follow the attacker-controlled URL; successful script execution can read or alter browser-accessible data in the preview server's origin.
