Secure upload disclosure via missing guest rejection
Published Jan 12, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
Improper access control in Discourse before 3.1.4 and 3.2.0.beta1 through 3.2.0.beta3 allows remote attackers to read secure uploads. UploadsController's handle_secure_upload_request checks post visibility but fails to reject guests when login_required is enabled. Exploitation requires a post-associated secure upload URL and user interaction; exposure is limited to the referenced upload.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
