Remote security UI spoofing via Picture in Picture
Published Sep 12, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Inappropriate implementation in Picture in Picture in Google Chrome before 117.0.5938.62 allows remote attackers to spoof security UI via crafted HTML pages. The Picture in Picture implementation presents security indicators in a way that crafted page content can imitate trusted browser UI. Exploitation requires a remote attacker to deliver the crafted page and a user to view it; the documented impact is deceptive interface content rather than direct data access or service interruption.
