Remote code execution via ssid stack overflow
Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack overflow in Tenda AX1803 v1.0.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via the ssid parameter in form_fast_setting_wifi_set. The handler accepts an oversized ssid value in a POST request to /goform/fast_setting_wifi_set, overwriting stack memory; the published proof of concept crashes the router and indicates a path to code execution. The endpoint is network reachable and the CVSS assessment requires no privileges or user interaction, so a crafted request can fully compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
