Authenticated code execution via traversal-based file upload
Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in ThinkAdmin 6.1.53 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted ZIP upload. The /admin/api.upload/file handler accepts attacker-controlled key values containing traversal sequences and stores uploaded content under the requested names, enabling placement of a ZIP web shell and a .user.ini auto_prepend_file directive for PHP execution. A valid backend session and an upload configuration permitting the necessary file extensions are required; successful exploitation grants execution in the web server context.
