Database crash via crafted CHECK constraint
Published Nov 29, 2023 · Updated Jun 5, 2025
Denial of service in OpenLink Virtuoso Open Source 7.2.11 allows remote attackers to crash the database via a crafted SQL statement. A CREATE TABLE statement whose CHECK constraint invokes CONTAINS reaches box_equal during SQL compilation, where expression comparison crashes the process. Attackers must be able to submit table-creation SQL; successful exploitation interrupts the database service.
