Server crash via crafted multiplication query
Published Nov 29, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Denial of service in OpenLink Virtuoso Open Source Edition 7.2.11 allows remote attackers to crash the server with a crafted SQL query. The box_mpy arithmetic function reaches undefined behavior while evaluating crafted multiplication expressions, terminating the database process. A network-reachable SQL interface is sufficient, and the reported consequence is a database-process crash without data disclosure or modification.
