Published Sep 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Server-side request forgery in Crayon Syntax Highlighter 2.8.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to send arbitrary requests. The crayon shortcode passes an attacker-controlled URL into the plugin's server-side highlighting fetch without restricting internal destinations. Contributor-level WordPress access is required; successful requests can read or modify reachable internal-service data.
