Privilege escalation via reusable URL session identifier
Published Dec 8, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Session fixation in Franklin Fueling Systems System Sentinel AnyWare 1.6.24.492 allows remote attackers to hijack privileged sessions. The group_status.asp resource places its sid session identifier in the URL, accepts that identifier in another browser, and uses an insufficiently random value susceptible to brute-force guessing. An attacker must obtain a victim's URL or guess a valid sid; successful reuse bypasses authentication and exposes sensitive information with the hijacked session's privileges.
