Contributor-level stored XSS via unsanitized shortcode attributes
Published Nov 15, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Shareaholic Plugin 9.7.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through crafted shortcode attributes. The shortcode handler accepts user-supplied attributes without sufficient input sanitization and emits them without adequate output escaping. Contributor-level access is required to store the payload in a page, and the script runs in the browser of anyone who visits that page.
