Privilege escalation via uncontrolled DLL search path
Published Dec 7, 2023 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
DLL hijacking in TTPlayer 7.0.2 allows local users to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code through a planted urlmon.dll. The vulnerable loader resolves urlmon.dll through an uncontrolled search path, allowing a planted library to take precedence over the intended system copy. A local low-privileged user must influence a searched directory; successful loading runs attacker code in TTPlayer's security context.
