CVE-2023-48702Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrator code execution via UNC encoder path

Published Dec 13, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Command injection in Jellyfin before 10.8.13 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute code on the server. The /System/MediaEncoder/Path endpoint passes an administrator-supplied UNC executable path to ProcessStartInfo during ValidateVersion, which launches that file. Administrator privileges and a reachable network share are required; successful execution runs with the Jellyfin server process's local permissions.
