Stored XSS via missing file-extension allowlist
Published Nov 21, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in Statamic CMS asset uploads allows remote attackers to execute scripts when a crafted HTML file is later viewed. Upload validation accepts HTML disguised as an image because it relies on MIME validation without restricting the file extension. Exposure requires an asset field in a front-end Forms form or authenticated control-panel access, followed by user interaction with the stored file.
