CVE-2023-48692Network attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via packet memory corruption

Published Dec 5, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Memory corruption in Eclipse ThreadX NetX Duo before 6.3.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted network packets. ICMP, TCP, SNMP, DHCP, NAT, and FTP handlers insufficiently validate packet-buffer bounds or lifetime, causing out-of-bounds writes and stale-pointer dereferences. The stack must be built into reachable device firmware with an affected protocol path enabled; successful corruption grants code execution in that device context.
