CVE-2023-48677

Local privilege escalation via DLL search-path hijacking

Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2026

DLL hijacking in affected Windows builds of Acronis Cyber Protect and True Image products allows local users to escalate privileges. Acronis identifies an uncontrolled DLL search path but has not published the executable, library name, or loading operation involved. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and user interaction, and successful hijacking executes attacker-controlled code with elevated privileges.
