CVE-2023-48398Network attack vector

Remote information disclosure via missing bounds check

Published Dec 8, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in the Android kernel allows remote attackers to disclose information through crafted baseband input. The ProtocolNetAcBarringInfo constructor in protocolnetadapter.cpp omits a bounds check and reads past the supplied buffer. Exploitation requires prior compromise of baseband firmware but no user interaction, and the vendor does not identify the disclosed data.
