CVE-2023-48387Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unchecked registry origin

Published Dec 15, 2023 · Updated Oct 14, 2024

Improper input validation in JCICSecurityTool 4.2.3.32 allows remote attackers to execute code via a malicious webpage after identity verification. Registry-related functions fail to verify the source website and access location, allowing attacker-controlled pages to read or modify HKEY_CURRENT_USER entries. Exploitation requires a user to browse the malicious page while using the tool; resulting impact includes registry disclosure, modification, and code execution.
