Service interruption via unbounded request logging
Published Nov 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Mattermost Server allows remote authenticated users to fill server logs through crafted requests. Request handling at multiple undisclosed endpoints writes activity from crafted requests to server logs without enforcing a log-size limit. A low-privileged account can repeatedly invoke the affected endpoints until log storage overflows, interrupting server availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <=7.8.12
- Affected versionversion=0 <=8.1.3
- Affected versionversion=0 <=9.0.1
