LDAP password disclosure via debug argument logging
Published Nov 21, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Cleartext credential storage in Nextcloud Server 25.0.0 through 27.0.x allows local users to read LDAP passwords from debug logs. The user_ldap LDAP wrapper serializes every LDAP call's argument array with json_encode and passes it to the debug logger, including ldap_bind's plaintext password argument. Exposure requires the LDAP backend and debug logging; access to the resulting log reveals credentials recorded during bind operations.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
