Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attribute
Published Nov 20, 2023 · Updated Sep 4, 2024
Stored XSS in Epiphyt Embed Privacy before 1.8.1 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through an opt-out shortcode. The shortcode_opt_out method copies the show_all value directly into a data-show-all HTML attribute without constraining it to a Boolean or escaping it. Contributor-level access is sufficient to save a crafted post, and the injected JavaScript runs when another user opens and interacts with that page.
