Cross-site scripting via query-string prototype pollution
Published Feb 23, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2024
Prototype pollution in SocialDriver before 2024 allows remote attackers to inject scripts that execute when a user opens a crafted page. The public proof of concept supplies proto parameters for preventDefault, handleObj, and delegateTarget, causing attacker-controlled markup in delegateTarget to execute as HTML. No authentication is required, but exploitation requires a user to visit the crafted URL; the script then runs in the visitor's browser context and can read or alter page-accessible data.
