Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped media URL
Published Oct 16, 2023 · Updated Mar 5, 2025
Stored XSS in Blubrry PowerPress before 11.0.12 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through a post's media URL field. The plugin stores the media URL without sanitizing it and renders the value without output escaping, allowing embedded event handlers to execute. Contributor-level access is sufficient; execution requires a site administrator or super administrator to view the affected content.
