HTML injection via unsanitized API key parameters
Published Nov 15, 2023 · Updated Sep 29, 2025
HTML injection in Grocy 4.0.3 and earlier allows local users to alter QR code popup content via crafted manageApiKeys parameters. The manageApiKeys component inserts user-supplied parameter values into the QR code detail popup without sanitizing HTML tags, permitting arbitrary markup injection without script execution. Access requires a low-privilege local account and interaction with the affected API-key interface; the documented consequence is manipulated page content that can support social engineering, not JavaScript execution.
