Browser-context script execution via unsanitized appointment descriptions
Published Dec 21, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in SmarterTools SmarterMail 8495 through 8664 allows remote authenticated users to run script in a viewer's browser. The calendar appointment description is persisted and later inserted into webmail without neutralizing attacker-supplied HTML and script. A mailbox account must create the appointment, and another user must open it; the script then runs in that viewer's authenticated browser context.
