Stored XSS via flawed SVG URL allowlist
Published Dec 21, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in SmarterTools SmarterMail 8495 through 8664 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via an uploaded SVG. The SVG URL allowlist accepts youtube.com followed by an at sign and an attacker-controlled domain, incorrectly treating the crafted URL as trusted. A mailbox user must store the SVG and a victim must render it; script runs in the victim's webmail context and can read or alter accessible data.
