CVE-2023-48082Network attack vector

Account impersonation via predictable API-key generation

Published Oct 14, 2024 · Updated Mar 13, 2025

Predictable API-key generation in Nagios XI before 2024R1 allows remote attackers to authenticate as other users via guessed keys. Nagios discloses only that random-text generation, including API keys, lacked sufficient security; no function-level details are public. No prior account is required; a matching key exposes the data and administrative actions authorized for the impersonated user.
