MP4Box crash via unreleased MPD string allocations
Published Nov 20, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Memory leak in GPAC 2.3-DEV-rev617-g671976fcc-master allows local users to crash MP4Box through a crafted DASH media file. The gf_mpd_parse_string routine duplicates MPD representation-attribute strings with strdup but fails to release two resulting allocations. The file must be supplied to a local MP4Box invocation; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash, not data read or code execution.
