CVE-2023-48011Public exploit

Process crash via stale track-run reference

Published Nov 15, 2023 · Updated Aug 29, 2024

Heap use-after-free in GPAC 2.3-DEV-rev566-g50c2ab06f-master allows attackers to crash MP4Box by processing a crafted media file. UpdateRuns frees a track-run box without removing the same pointer from movie->moof->trun_list, which flush_ref_samples later reads. Exploitation requires a user to run DASH segmentation on attacker-supplied content; the published trace demonstrates an abort, while code execution is not established.
