CVE-2023-47992Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via signed size comparison

Published Jan 9, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025

Integer overflow in FreeImage 3.18.0 allows context-dependent attackers to disclose memory, crash a process, or execute code. _MemoryReadProc casts an unsigned read size above 0x80000000 to signed long, bypasses its remaining-byte check, and passes the oversized value to memcpy. A consuming application must load a crafted BMP through the memory-reading path; exploitation can read beyond source data or overwrite the destination heap buffer.
