Administrator command execution via unescaped archive setting
Published Jan 16, 2024 · Updated Jun 11, 2025
Command injection in Tribulant Software Newsletters before 4.9.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary server commands. The emailarchive_olderthan setting is stored without shell escaping and later passed to PHP's exec() when the email-archive task runs. WordPress administrator access is required to save the crafted setting and trigger the task; successful exploitation runs commands with the web server process's privileges.
