JavaScript execution via exported activity intent
Published Dec 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Code injection in TV Browser 4.5.1 and earlier for Android allows attackers to execute JavaScript in the app via an explicit intent. The exported MainActivity passes an intent-supplied JavaScript URI into its WebView, where exposed Android interfaces can create or overwrite files. Exploitation requires another application on the device to launch the activity; demonstrated consequences include writing attacker-chosen files in Downloads.
