CVE-2023-47855

Privilege escalation via flawed instance binding

Published May 16, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Improper input validation in Intel TDX Module before 1.5.05.46.698 allows local users with high privileges to escalate privileges. The migration and instance-binding paths permit a host VMM to rewrite TDINFO and service-TD UUID values, check a UUID without the service-TD hash, and leave TDINFO.SERVTD_HASH stale. A privileged host VMM can impersonate or replace trusted domains, read or alter tenant data, and preserve attestation acceptance after protected state changes.
