Plugin settings changes via unchecked updateSettings requests
Published Dec 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 29, 2026
Missing authorization in WP Meta and Date Remover 2.3.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to change plugin settings. The updateSettings function fails to validate a request nonce correctly before applying attacker-controlled configuration changes. Public sources disagree on the exploitation gate: Patchstack rates subscriber access with no user interaction, while Wordfence describes a forged request requiring administrator action.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
