CVE-2023-47804Network attack vector

Script execution via unapproved macro URL activation

Published Dec 29, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Improper input validation in Apache OpenOffice 4.1.14 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to execute scripts via crafted document links. The document-link handler activates certain internal macro URI schemes with attacker-supplied arguments without requesting the approval required for script execution. A user must open a crafted document; activation can follow a click or an automatic document event, and the resulting script runs with the user's application privileges.
