Cross-site scripting via unsafe editor-content rendering
Published Nov 16, 2023 · Updated Oct 1, 2024
Cross-site scripting in CKSource CKEditor 4 before 4.24.0-lts allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript via the AJAX sample. The sample's remove-editor path assigns editor.getData() directly to editorcontents.innerHTML, causing attacker-controlled markup to execute. Exploitation requires samples/old/ajax.html to be deployed in production and an authorized user to open and interact with it.
