CVE-2023-47630Network attack vector

Image substitution via unchecked registry descriptor digest

Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024

Supply-chain validation failure in Kyverno before 1.10.5 allows remote attackers to substitute an image via a compromised registry. FetchImageDescriptor accepts the registry-returned descriptor without checking its digest against the digest in the requested image reference. Exploitation requires control of the registry response and a digest-based policy that trusts imageData, enabling an older or malicious image to be admitted.
