Persistent account access via nonexpiring session cookies
Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Sep 3, 2024
Insufficient session expiration in DataHub before 0.12.1 allows remote attackers with a leaked session cookie to retain account access. DataHub Frontend uses Play Framework's LegacyCookiesModule without a token-validity window, and logout removes the browser cookie without invalidating its stateless token. Exploitation requires a previously issued authenticated cookie and preserves that user's data access and modification privileges.
