CVE-2023-47613Public exploit

Protected-file access via encoded path traversal

Published Nov 9, 2023 · Updated Sep 3, 2024

Relative path traversal in Telit Cinterion BGS5, EHS5/6/8, PDS5/6/8, ELS61/81, and PLS62 allows local users to read or write protected files. The Java Micro Edition FileConnection open routine checks for literal parent-directory segments before URL-decoding the requested path, so an encoded segment bypasses the virtual-root filter. A low-privilege MIDlet running on the module can escape the assigned virtual directory and access protected native-filesystem content.
